CHAMBERSBURG, Pa. – A company out of York County is eyeing Chambersburg as one of its possible locations for a medical marijuana dispensary.

Borough officials said the location is on Wayne Avenue. The company Viridis Medicine LLC is applying for a grower and processor license and a dispensary license in the south- central Pennsylvania area.

A consultant for the company said Franklin County is their secondary location for the dispensary as their primary location is in York County.

The consultant also said, if approved, they will be employing residents in the area. They assure that 100 percent of their medical cannabis will be extracted into oil and then processed into other forms and products.

Borough officials said they approve of the plan to bring in the company and see it as a pharmacy. The company also said they talked to health officials in the county about their plans.

The company said the state will approve the south-central zone for two grower and processor and four dispensary licenses.

Applications will be accepted to the state beginning Feb. 20.

The Pennsylvania medical marijuana program started back in May of 2016.
